Alan Seem

Alan Seem is a partner in Jones Day’s Silicon Valley office.  His law practice is concentrated on SEC-registered and Rule 144A/Regulation S securities offerings, M&A, venture capital and private equity investments, and going-private transactions. He has extensive experience in the Asia-Pacific region, having worked for 16 years in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai.  He also regularly advises companies and their boards of directors on corporate governance matters, including SEC/stock exchange compliance and environmental, social and governance (ESG) and other disclosure-related matters.  Alan has worked with private and public companies in a variety of industries, including media and social media, fintech, renewable energy, software, e-commerce, semiconductors, telecommunications, education, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, banking, automotive, real estate, retail, mining, oil and gas, machinery and manufacturing, and airlines.  Alan has been recognized as one of the leading individuals for capital markets work by Chambers Asia and Asia Pacific Legal 500.  He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese.
